English Wine Diary
Seeing as we couldn't run tours in May we decided to use the time trying/re-trying English wines - a tough job, but one we thought necessary.
Top 6 (in no particular order)
1 - Camel Valley - 2016 Sparkling Rose Brut
Delightful, fruity little number, refreshing with wonderful aromas of strawberry. Cornish summer in a glass.
2 - Blackdown Ridge - 2015 Vintage Sparkling Rose Brut
Just what you want after a hot day, well balanced, refreshing with ripe red fruit flavours and a peachy richness.
3 - Winbirri Vineyard - 2013 Vintage Reserve (Sparkling)
Refined, well structured, delicate, fresh & crisp with brioche notes, we could go on. The is the most Northerly vineyard we've tried so far and were absolutely blown away.
4 - Danebury - 2014 Cossack (Sparkling)
Loads of character, excellent acidity with refreshing citrusy flavours, perfect for a hot day.
5 - Upperton - 2014 Aurora
'Silver Outstanding' medal award winning wine from the IWSC and easy to see why - truly exceptional wine.
6 - Bluebell Vineyards, Hindleap - 2015 Sparkling Vintage Rose
Sussex summer in a bottle, refreshing crispness with ripe red berry flavours and a surprisingly long finish.
All are highly recommended and we'd love to hear your thoughts on them!
We've decided to extend our lockdown throughout June but tours are now available to book from 4th July. Tours will, for the foreseeable, be limited to 6 people per tour - we can't wait to see you from a safe 2 metre distance.
Stay safe, don't complain, just wine (try to make it English wine if you can!)
